We have been working hard on implementing our irrigation system which is already slightly delayed. However once completed it will provide enough water for us to continue expanding our farm as well as supplying the local village and a school with a clean water. Prior to implementing this we have had lengthy discussions with a local community on benefits of this to the whole population of the village and we are happy to say that it is fully supported by everyone.
For the last month we have continued battling coffee borer using traditional methods of chilies, garlic and a non-detergent soap to wash every single coffee tree to prevent bugs from spreading to healthy trees. We are to continue doing so until the system is in place.
Below is a little picture blog showing our progress in constructing a water dam as well as a water tank which will allow an even distribution of water when we need it most.
For those of you who are following us on a regular basis we can say thatour avocados, which are used as a shade provider for the plantation are growing extremely fast and hopefully through the soil we will be able to pass on those flavours into our limited batch once it is going to be ready in 2018.
